Trent Seaman is enjoying the Waggaroos’ Summer Series of Orienteering winning last Thursday’s event and the handicap.

The event was conducted around Tatton starting at the southern end of Brindabella Drive.

Participants had a choice of 45 or 30 minutes to find the answers to various questions about the area. Each answer scored points according to difficulty in finding the answer and point penalties were imposed for exceeding the time limit.

Higher point answers tend to be towards the periphery of the map although as Trent put it “working the perimeter is easy. If you can work out how to take the controls in the centre you will score well”.

Trent scored very well finding 18 of the 20 answers and scoring an excellent 200 points from his allotted 45minutes and tying with John Oliver for first place. As well as line honours Trent also won the handicap for the third time this season.

John Oliver also found 18 controls missing two lower point valued controls at the edge of the map. Trent missed one in the middle of the map and one at the edge.

Don MacIntyre was third with 135 points.

Jonathan Holland won the 30 minute course with a remarkable score of 155 points. Had he participated on the 45 minute course he probably would have found all control sites. Erin Lenon and Catherine Holland tied for second place with scores of 110 points.
