Summer Series moves to Sundays!

Waggaroos have changed the day and timing for their Summer Series of park and street orienteering, with this season's events to be held on Sunday mornings, with starts between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

The move away from Thursday evenings has been made for a number of reasons. It is hoped that the morning time slot will enable events to be held in cooler temperatures, with a number of past events having to be cancelled due to extreme afternoon temperatures. The move to Sunday will allow more competitors to attend without the demands of work and the conflict with Thursday night shopping.

The format remains unchanged, with a choice of either 30 and 45 minutes to visit as many controls and gather the correct answer to a multiple choice question. Controls are worth either 5, 10 or 20 points, so competitors need to decide on the best route choice to enable the highest possible score. A penalty of 5 points per minute applies to competitors exceeding their time limit.

Newcomers - walkers and runners, singles and groups - are most welcome. There will be experienced club members on hand to give assistance. No fancy equipment is needed, just walking or running clothes plus a hat and some water.

The first event will be held on Sunday 24 November at Lake Albert, with the start and finish in Ron Wheeler Park. The full calendar of events can be found in the menu on the Home page.
