Numbers on the rise!

A wonderful turnout on a coolish day at Wolfram: 37 participants - our highest number for quite a while at a local Wagga event. Organiser Deb did an excellent job pre-arranging time slots so we did not breach the NPWS restrictions on gatherings numbers.

And she did an equally excellent job with the courses. On the Hard courses route choice decisions were paramount - climb the steep hill or contour around, go through the scrub or circumvent it. The Moderate and Easy courses were ideal for our newer orienteers. Much of the forest was open with many wildflowers and orchids just opening up which provided a very enjoyable and pleasant Sunday morning experience, although those wildflowers did prove to be a serious distraction for a few.

Competition was pretty close on all courses. Alex Davey recorded the biggest winning margin by far - just over two minutes on the 6.7 km Hard course; Stuart Young finished just 40 seconds ahead of Jack Janetzki on the 4.6 km Hard course; Shane and Robyn McMullen were just 23 seconds behind Bob Moore on the 3.9 km Moderate course; and Matilda Seal just scraped home by a mere 2 seconds from Felix McNellie. Well done all.
